I’ve known two girls that used to go after taken guys because they enjoyed the forbidden nature of the flirting, and they got off of knowing they had stronger powers on the guys than their current girlfriends.

Yes, of course, do it. But be prepared for the possibility of her not feeling what she did, and which is a natural consequence of liking someone who is unavailable.

But here's the irony. If that is in fact so, take heart, because it actually is an opening. If you take the news of her lack of interest like a man, and say you respect her and will move on, do exactly that, and go silent from there. Guess who's going to start texting you within a week??

I don't know you should probably wait longer or start off slow because it can come off as if she's your second choice or last resort.

Chances are that she wanted you because someone else had you, and now that you are unattached, thus no longer a challenge or novel she lost interest. I would also see her hitting on you while taken as a huge red flag, it shows that she does not respect boundaries or other people's relationships.

I generally view my ex's best friends as off limits, but if she wasn't that close with your ex I say have it (as long as you're firm in not wanting to ever get back with your ex).
