Get in there and just talk, practice! You'll be shitty at first, some girls think that's kinda cute. You'll get better. It took me about 3 weeks of only Spanish to feel confident enough to hit on girls in a different language. But you need to be social!

First off, you're in a pretty good position so don't sweat it too much. Here's why:

You're still dealing with Western culture and I assume you're moving from one part of Canada or North America, to Quebec. There's a LOT of common ground.
You actually spoke French in the past and apparently have a high enough level that practice will be enough to help you improve.

I can tell you, having dealt with the cultural and language barriers between North America and Asia, with no prior background in the native languages at ALL, that you can overcome it even when the barriers are extreme. It's important to remember that those barriers will be a deal breaker for some people. You can't help that. Acceptance of this, and confidence, will be good assets to ensure you present yourself the best chance of success with those women who would still be up for it.

Note: If you don't like night clubs, now might be a good time to reevaluate them because non-verbal game is king there. It's possible to find yourself making out with a girl you've never spoken to, just on the basis of an eye contact opener and dance approach. And the little French you have will be enough to get by at that point. Many girls might even find it charming that you're trying at all.

When you're flirting with a girl, ask her to teach you French. Ask to learn body parts. It's a great way to introduce kino. Touch her hand, fingers, arm, etc... and ask what it's called. Easily leads into touching her neck, face, hair, etc...

After you've learned a bit, say you want to take a test. If you get X number right, you get a kiss.

I've been playing this game four years. Never hasn't worked.

I dated a girl in Thailand and we had about 5 words in common.

It was exactly the same as any other relationship, only it was better, because I didn't even have to pretend to listen to her nattering.

We were still able to communicate just fine. Sometimes better than if we had tried to do it all verbally.
