Going out alone is fucking awesome. Honestly, this is fun just to people watch. It can be nerve-wracking, though, until you cease to give a fuck about somebody thinking about the "weird" guy who's alone at the bar.

contrary to what you read a lot on here, I don't really think the three second rule helps a whole lot. To me, it's way more important to feel comfortable in an environment, so anything I can do to help me with that is going to pay off in the long run more so than acting like a street performer and trying to talk to everyone I see.

This. More or less what I think too. It only helps if you usually start overthinking and don't do any move because of that. If you feel comfortable with you and your surroundings, you won't need it.

The best advice I can give for college bars and parties is to game the whole room. Be the guy that's introducing himself to everyone, the one everyone knows by the end of the night. The social proof will allow you to do many things you normally wouldn't be able to do like steal girls away from guys when they're dancing and have the girls love it every second, like I did. I took home a HB8 that every guy at the party was trying to snag but since everyone knew me, I let all these guys talk to her because we both knew she was going home with me at the end of it all. It was a huge ego boost knowing that guys are just getting girls hornier for you later

When you first start going out alone you assume everyone has a radar for who each person is with at a bar. Then you realize, 90% of people don't care. The girls that ask you right away about "who you're with" are not worth pursuing. Proceed with your quest, unimpeded.
