It's difficult to say without knowing more about what's going on.

But know that in a man's mind there is a difference between 'hot' and 'attractive'.

The girls you see in the club wearing tiny dresses with their tits hanging out and shaking their ass up and down the pole...that's hot, to a man. That, crudely speaking, makes our dicks hard and makes us think 'god I wanna fuck her so bad' instantly on a primal level.

Attractive however is when you see your girlfriend in a lovely dress, ready for a meal out. Or when she's charming your friends and family. Or being a wonderful, fun, joyful human being to be in the company of.

If you only fall into the category of hot (especially slutty-hot), men will want to fuck your brains out, but not introduce you to their friends or family. Basically your role is sex.

If you only fall into the category of attractive, men will be proud to have you on their arm as their lovely girlfriend. But the longer you are together, the less excited he will be to have sex with you.

Sounds to me (and I may be wrong as I'm going off a small amount of info here) that you're more on the attractive side in your boyfriend's eyes than the hot side.

So what can you do to flick the light on for him at a more primal level?

You two might have completely different sex drives. It's completely normal. Generally speaking you just need to accept this.

Now, if he masturbates (which I'm assuming he does) that could be a cause of a lowered sex drive. If he's willing to, he can abstain from any sexual stimulation for about a week or two. That includes masturbation and porn. If he does that his sex drive should increase dramatically and the resulting sex would be amazing. Of course, you can't and shouldn't try force him to do this if he doesn't want to.
