1. About a week ago, on my way to school on the bus, I looked around and saw a few 7s and 8s. Usually I'm hesitant about talking to people on the bus but decided to not care that day. I went over to an 8 who was sitting by herself and brought up the usual chat: "so you headed to (name of college) too?" and asked her about her classes and major. She seemed a little too nervous despite my effort to build comfort. After a while I kind of gave up on her because she was just acting nervous and couldn't keep the conversation going unless I kept asking questions and I didn't want to be that annoying guy. Oddly enough, she actually smiled and said bye on her way out. Maybe it was all in my head.

  2. Today I was at my usual spot doing some homework when this girl walks in. She was probably a 9 but she was sort of my type so I'd say 10. I had seen her a few times before but the only time I had a chance to talk to her (she walked by me), I let approach anxiety get in my way and didn't do anything. Today she walked by again but a bit too fast for me to react. She sat across from me to the left. Kind of close but a far enough walk to make it awkward. As I tried to mentally prepare myself (probably a bad idea) I got pretty nervous and just went outside instead. I walked around for a couple of minutes, saw a friend who I talked to for a minute and decided to get myself to go back in. I walked in and sat next to her. She looked at me and looked away, so I asked her if she was the girl who had the big head phones last week. I was off to a rough start and I had probably used one of my worst openers but I kept the conversation going and turned to conversation to music, interests, and majors. Turns out this girl was really cool and we had lots of things in common. She seemed interested and the conversation was going well. We kept talking up until she had to go to her class. By the time she had to go, the high point in the conversation was gone and I felt it wasn't the right time to get a number, but I'm sure I'll see her again and do better next time. I really shouldn't put girls on pedestals but I'm glad I actually talked to her this time. Over all I see it as a success. Made her smile and my approach anxiety is slowly diminishing.

tl;dr: 1. girl seemed too nervous so i let the conversation die 2. finally talked to the really cute girl i always see at school and it went better than expected
