I almost always go straight for the hug. I'm a touchy guy. I hug my male friends too. Usually I just straight up say "I'm a hugger" and go for it. Most of the time they laugh and are fine with it. If they're not, it's usually not a person I want to know better anyway.

Obviously I don't do this in more formal or professional settings.
