That's pretty aggressive, and good for you. But you might want to work up to that goal. Try the "StyleLife Challenge" from "The Rules of The Game," it starts with talking to 5 strangers a day.

Try this whenever you are in a queue for something: the other person can't go away without sacrificing their position in the queue, so you have a pretty good window of time to talk to them.

This is fantastic and when you're done you will be a BEAST! Actually if you do 20 a day, your AA will be gone by the first week, for real.

Remember, to keep conversations going, ask people about their favorite subject: themselves. Be genuinely interested in other people and they will continue to talk to you, and like you.

The best place to do this: shopping malls and grocery stores. The reason is you can warm up with the people who are paid to talk to you: salespeople. Everyone is doing something worth commenting on (looking at something to buy, or holding something they've already bought). It's in a public place where people are generally at ease (unlike a bar or club).

seems like a cool idea. Are you limiting it to just HBs, or just anyone in general? Try talking to old people or guys, work up to HBs. Then you will have some things stored in your head from past conversations.

try your barista or your cashier at the grocery store, etc.

20 people a day seems really intense, good for you! I don't have any book suggestions but I would recommend, as dashingprince suggested, to talk to people around you. Talk to the kinds of people who want to be talking to you, or who are stuck, and/or looking for some entertainment.

For example, people selling produce at the farmer's market, people serving you coffee, behind the counter of an empty neighborhood store, relaxing at a local park, riding public transportation with you...Definitely talk to girls! But keep in mind that anyone can be a connection to women, to friends, or to fun. Also, know that your contact with people may be fleeting, but that's enough for now.

My New Year's resolution is to go out for 100 days in 2011. I'm not sure how successful I'll be at getting all 100, but that's my target!

For communication and conversation I suggest - How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Someone posted a cheat sheet here for use after you've read the book.
