Saturday Night: I get home from a day at my buddies place that had turned into an all day drink-a-thon where I got to warm up my social skills. I have a party to go to that night but I am hesitant because I am expecting mostly gay guys to be there and I have no energy.

I'm half asleep but I go anyway. I walk in and am early. There are 5 people there, I know all of them and two are HB7s. Both are about 5 years older than me and I have met them before. I start right away trying to lead, suggesting we play a drinking game to get warmed up before it picks up. The game goes well and I situate myself to be between both of them, making kino with #1. All is well.

Fast forward 45 minutes, girl #3 arrives HB8, one that I hook up with about once every two weeks. The other two don't like her and it's pretty obvious. I continue to develop attraction with #1 while not neglecting #3. But I have to be careful since, in this case, preselection would work against me.

The party picks up and I find myself talking to everyone. I have attraction with both of my targets (multiple targets = disaster for me, btw). I go to get a drink and a girl #4 (HB8) I have never met opens me. We are having a great convo and I initiate some kino. Minutes later her gay friend joins the convo and they start talking about old times. I am part of the conversation still, but have nothing to say. Advice on this? I know I should try to win him over but he keeps talking about shit that is totally irrelevant to me but important to her.

3 notices that I am talking to another girl and parks herself right in front of me while getting a drink. Shit test. She wants me to start talking to her and of course I do, like an idiot. After a few minutes I turn around to #4 (the HB8), but can't get back in so I move on. Would a new opener work in this situation?

I start hitting on #1 again but can tell I have lost some attraction. It goes ok but eventually she takes off without much more than telling me to add her on FB. My focus drifts back to #3 but she disappears for a good 20 minutes. I say fuck it and go home.

I made a whole host of mistakes but I know that I also did a few things really well. The main problem I have, is that I NEVER go for the sure thing and I can't bring myself to do it. I like having options.
