Story of my life, have NO problem with talking to women when I'm in a familiar surrounding (work, at a friend's place etc, but I can't go beyond friendly conversation because of reasons below) but whenever I end up in a social venue I fear approaching women more than I fear activities that actually risk my own life, and yes, if I would get the question from the Swedish Armed Forces about going into service abroad, I would accept.
I'm getting really tired of my self loathing and episodes of depression because of my problem with talking to women, and my sense of self worth is so low I automatically think that IF I would approach a girl she'd scoff at me and walk away with disgust in her eyes.
Which leads me to think that I'm either so hideous that everyone would shy away from me, which would be odd since I have friends and female relations at work which shows no such tendency, or that I'm radiating self loathing and insecurity, which is a problem I can't seem to fix. I've been to a CBT-therapist but I have a problem with lessons such as "go out and say hello to 10 different women" since I've developed a social phobia when it comes to striking up a conversation with a woman when I have an intent (however subconsious) to engage in some form of romantic relationship.
Sorry about the rant since there are people who suffer way more than me, but to myself this is a very real source of depression.
