tl,dr; Yes, as always: too long, do read.

I've had a shitty time lately. A car crash, blown up computer equipment, a lengthy illness, drunken ex-girlfriend in the hospital, let's not get into detail. A guy could easily get depressed in these circumstances. But that would be reactive and beta. I have to get above all that. It is easy to wallow in misery, it is harder to get out there and change your life, day after day. It is time to get back in the saddle. My health has been poor, I haven't felt like I'm ready for a full night of serious sarging, so lately I've just run some occasional casual day game at my usual coffee/tobacco place.

On Thursday, I stopped in for coffee and Scorpio Girl is there by herself. She's just grabbed seat with coffee, smokes, and a NYTimes crossword puzzle, perfect, I'll open her before she buries her nose in a book or something. She excitedly tells me she read the article I left her about Murakami Ryu, I told her I knew she'd like it. She's reading a bio of Sylvia Plath, the stereotypical feminist author. I tell her about a newspaper article I just read in The Guardian, complaining there are no great women orators and speechwriters, they used Sylvia Plath as an example and then tore her apart. Of course, as a feminist who idolizes Plath, Scorpio Girl jumps to the defense, but I cut her off. The article missed the point, I said, they picked a feminist but they missed their own British suffragette speechmakers like Sylvia Pankhurst, let alone American rabble rousers like Sojourner Truth and Emma Goldman. The writer had a selective vision that excluded women.

She is hooked and waiting on my every word, I take notice and try to slow down considerably, to have that commanding Alpha cadence (I tend to speak too fast). She seems to be paying even closer attention. And I'm doing particularly well, with my knowledge of feminist writers. Here's the old guy twice her age, who knows more about the feminist writers she's studying than she does. She is clearly glad to have someone who is a peer, to discuss these things with. As do I, I don't have many people who care about literary topics. And it is even rarer that I have any use for all that feminist stuff I learned about from my family and women friends when I was young.

Sidenote: I recommend every aspiring PUA go read about feminism. I don't care what it is, maybe some books by Betty Friedan or Gloria Steinem, or even the Wikipedia entry on feminism. You've got to know at least some of this stuff, women believe in it like a religion, they will be impressed if you know anything of this subject. And you might be surprised at what you learn. Pickup, in a sense, is a type of Men's Liberation, and some of the same social constraints that women fought against, we men have never fought. In many ways, men's social roles are more rigidly defined than women's, and feminism is aligned with the self-development and self-liberation we seek in pickup.

Scorpio Girl seems to always want to tell me about her love life. I'm trying to not hear about it. She says she's just signed a lease with a new boyfriend and she's "living in sin." I change the subject by telling her the area she moved to used to be a ghetto. I think she always puts out these little IHAB as a sort of shit test or whatever, I never take the bait. She once told me about how she plans on having 3 husbands, and what each one will provide her. I have been thinking of telling her, "Now would you just hurry up and finish goofing off with those little boys? I really don't have time for that, if I'm going to be your second husband." But now is not the time for that little quip. I'm definitely going to use it sometime, it's the sort of strange disqualifier that would work on her (I think).

She tells me that she really wants to finish the story she was writing about me and The Woman, and I always encourage her. I told her I have written a TON of material on this subject, obliquely referring to my FRs. I offered to show her a copy of my worst FR about The Woman, she wants to see it. But I'd have to heavily redact it, to edit out all the references to pickup. She would have a feminist fit. I think I will show it to her, and just hope she isn't clever enough to google a passage that would lead her here to seddit. Hmm.. risky.

I told her the latest new developments, The Woman is moving to Kentucky for a new job, I will never see her again. And the scumbag homeless drug dealer who ruined her, he just got out of jail and might be headed this way, he thinks The Woman owes him money (as if she had any left after he stole it all). I told her to keep an eye out for the scumbag, but soon her job will be over, she will no longer have to watch out for The Woman and report any unusual events to me. Her surveillance duties on my behalf will end, she can be the "spy that came in from the cold." She laughed.

Anyway, I blew out of there after more chat, I am not there to entertain her endlessly. And I'm not making much progress with this woman, although she is the ultimate DHV in this environment. Everyone tries to chat up Scorpio Girl but very few people get her attention. She is a great pivot here. When I sit with her, everyone in the place is aware of it, and wondering what she sees in me.
