Went out to an Irish pub with my coworkers yesterday and it was great! I was in a very good, open, social mood, and determined to open as much as possible. When I arrived my coworkers were already there, sitting at a table at the back of the pub (in a sort-of isolated area). Sitting at the table next to us was a set of 3 girls, which I noticed from the start were not having a very great time (2 of them were playing with their phones). I thought about opening as soon as I got there, but I thought it would be best to first chat and have fun with my friends. When one of my coworkers said we should take a photo of our group, I got his cameraphone and opened the set of girls asking them to take our picture. The cameraphone was very similar to the one the girl was playing with, so I said something like "you should be able to handle it, it's just like your phone" to which she replied "no, mine's cooler!". Immediately I thought it was time for a neg, so I said "yeah, that must be the reason you haven't put it down all night!". Her friends burst in laughter and told me she was obsessed with it since she got it.

After she took the picture I decided to go outside for a smoke, so as to open other sets. I chatted with a guy who was alone outside smoking and then went back in. There was live music, and the songs were really good, so for a while I just danced a little. When I went out for another smoke later on with one of my coworkers, he was telling me his gf wouldn't let him go out more than once a week. I thought this was a perfect opinion openener, so I immediately turned to a girl that was smoking alone next to us and asked her what she thought about it (kinda like jealous girlfriend). She said she wouldn't do that to her boyfriend, but that each couple was a different story, etc. I didn't want to leave my friend hanging, so I turned back after getting her opinion (just opened, nothing more).

We then left for dinner at a place we knew right around the corner. Most of my colleagues went home after, but two of us went back to the irish pub. I was smoking a cigarette at the door before we went in and looking for a set to open. Just at that moment one of the girls from before came out to smoke, and joined us. We chatted for a while and then went in together. On the way, my friend recognized a girl he knew and started talking to her. I decided to get a drink at the bar meanwhile. As I was there, another of the girls came up to me and asked me why I didn't come join them at their table (IOI). I told her I'd be there as soon as I got my beer. She tried to neg me with "you're not doing it right, the barman isn't going to pay attention" (the bar was FULL). Luckily, I had just talked with the bartender and he said he would come to me as soon as he finished serving another group, which was at this exact moment. I looked up and he signaled to me and said "I'll be right there" without me saying a word (which left the girl thinking I was some kind of telepath).

Anyway, I joined them at their table with my friend and we just chatted for a while about many things. Then one of them said she was very hungry and that they should go get something to eat. I asked the girl I had been talking to the most to give me her number so we could get together some other time. I think I didn't do it very well, it seemed to me that I came off as a little beta. It was something like "hey, why don't you guys give me your number so we can meet up some other time". I'm not sure what I did wrong... She started giving me her number and paused like she was saying it wrong. I said "if you're gonna give me a fake number at least make it look like you know what you're doing". She immediately reassured me with some kino and continued with the number. Should I have asked the other girls for their numbers? I feel maybe I left them out by only asking one of them...

I have to work on kino. I tried my best but I'm still way behind with this. I don't escalate, I just try to touch a little when I think it won't be "weird". I've always had trouble with this, must practice! Anyway, great night!
