Until yesterday, I had read about agree & amplify a lot, but have never really jumped at the opportunity to use it. This is because I like to keep my banter as witty as possible and a&a just seemed to me like the poor man`s reply.

Yesterday however I was chatting to this HD8, who was taking cocky a couple steps too far (please, guys, DO NOT do this - instant attraction killer). He never misses an opportunity to tease me because my best friend is an ex boyfriend. The topic of anal sex came up and he asked whether me and my best friend have done it, to which I would have normally called him out on his shit and told him a thing or two about manners and being a gentleman.

This time however I gave him the biggest grin possible and said 'yes, as a matter of fact we are doing it right now.'. The most amazing thing happened! I literally saw the power shift in his eyes. He was completely taken aback, I assume because he was expecting me to take offense and react accordingly. By showing him that not only did I not care, but I can even handle a much higher threshhold of crap without blinking, I threw him off, and from that point on his entire obnoxious state was gone, and he jumped at every chance to qualify.

Completely. Blown. Away.

I know this is textbook stuff, but I figured there might be other sedditors out there who are on the same high horse that I used to be. Just give agree & amplify a shot. It's magic. I know I`ll be using it much more often from now on.
