When I arrive at the bar my wing greets me and we end up separated from the main groups chatting while sipping our beers. A guy I've seen at the bar a few time approaches and opens us. The first time I saw him I realized he had some game (I actually mentioned meeting him in a FR here) and he acted like he wanted us to sarge together. Last night again he was quite anxious to get together with me for us to go out together. I've seen him work so I know he approaches and opens with high frequency and he seems to hook a decent number of sets. He took my number and wants to go out soon.
My wing notices a HB6.5 and says she is throwing him glances so we go join her set. I try and arrange it so he is sitting next to her but he takes the furthest seat from her. I get them into a conversation and pretty quickly I have her laughing pretty hard. But my wing is talking to some dude and completely ignoring the girl. A friend of HB6.5 is bringing down the conversation, talking heavy subjects and being negative and it throws me off my game. I'm trying to counteract his negativity and find I'm talking too much -- it is a bad habit of mine.
We are bouncing to another club and I invite HB6.5 and she considers it for a long-time and then declines. I see the gears in her mind turning like she is doing calculus after I asked her. She is pretty enough but not my type and besides my wing liked her so I'm not really worried. An HB6 I number closed a couple of weeks ago tells me she is leaving tomorrow morning to go back to her country. My wing says he was feeling shy talking to HB6.5 and I give him shit for not doing anything.
At the next bar we spend a good 5 minutes watching the crowd identifying sets worth approaching. After a few "no's" I spot a HB7.5 I want to talk to and I tell my wing "I open every set. This one is on you". He reluctantly agrees and walks up to the set and just stand there, on the edge of the set, and doesn't say anything. It is pretty embarrassing and I can't take it so I open the HB7.5. She hooks really well, I am surprised. We have a very engaging conversation. Of course she mentions she is "in love" with her boyfriend who happens to be rudely ignoring us. There are a couple of other girls in the set and some good interactions there but this is already too long so I've cut out a lot.
I am happy that I can open and hook pretty consistently now. It is hard to explain, but it just feels natural now. But I feel like I am finding more and more ways to "not close" and that is frustrating. HB6.5 from the first bar, for example. She was talking about swing dancing lessons and how she was looking for a partner. It would have been an easy #-close, the signs were obvious. But I was thinking I was being respectful to my wing and I had the same doubt about my attraction to her. Then there was the boyfriend of HB7.5. I can't help but feel a bit frustrated because I can see myself improve but it is slow. Perhaps the guy I met who wants a new wing will be better than the wing I've had up until now (the guy too pussy to make a move on HB6.5 and didn't open the set).
