Is using your business card a good way to give to your number to a woman?

My business cards are for business.

Personally, I won't ever give a girl my number unless I have hers. It's a cop-out and I have more dignity than that. I'll simply say "No thanks" if she only offers to take my number.

Anyway, I can't even remember the last time I was given a hand written number. Seems old fashioned now. Just have her punch it into your cellphone, or grab her phone and text yourself.

Recently, I've been taking their phone from them, like "let me play with your phone" and then I'll text myself with something along the lines of "oh my god Delightful_White, you are the sexiest thing I've ever laid eyes on" and then hand it back to her. When I get the text message, I'll respond with "I know". When she gets that text, she's like "lol wtf?" and usually ends up being really funny. Sometimes they'll even play along and keep the texting going without ever mentioning it. It can turn into a fun thing to do and get real sexual with it. Either way, you got her number.

I've seen this go down several times, and it is pretty much never good.

Here's why it's bad:

Girls never call. If you give her your number, and you don't have her number, she will never call, and you will never get the girl. When a girl asks for your number rather than giving your hers, it is a polite "no". Move on, as you're not getting that girl anyway.
Your business card is boring. No matter how awesome you think you and your business are, it is boring to anyone who not inside that industry. Unless you're famous, your job is a negative. So, it's boring and try-hard, and reminds her of the real world where people have to work for a living.
Girls never call, really. Giving her your card gives her a reason to not give you her number, even if she likes you. She thinks, "Oh, I'll decide later if I want to call him." But the "girls never call" rule is really hard for girls to overcome. So, even if she does decide to call, she won't be able to get up the guts to do it.
She might facebook friend you instead of calling. I'm of the opinion that facebook should be called "friendzonebook", because I've seen it kill attraction a lot more often than it builds it.
It's weak. This may even be the most damning point against it. It is weak to hand over a card, rather than explicitly stating your desires. "Hey, let me get your number, and we'll hang out sometime" is cool. "Here's my card. My cell number is on there. Call me!" is weak.

So, I say "no". I say it emphatically and without hesitation. Unless you are meeting her in a business context, she does not get your card. Even then, you should be careful about trading cards with women you're interested in...it's easy for her to slip into Professional Woman mode, where she does not have sex with dudes she interacts with for business.

I use a personal card, it has nothing on it but my name, phone, and email address.

If you have a card for some Alpha position, use it, but unless it's something like "Chief of Staff, White House," or "Vice President, Apple Computers," then just don't bother.

As a side note you can print up fake business cards with funny occupations from www.vistaprint.com to use a props.

I exchanged business cards once...we sat next to each other on a plane and really hit it off. It was a business trip and I was still in the "business mode" ...I immediately regretted it. We went out a few times after---things went better than expected.

I wouldn't even use a personal card, like TPUA says he uses. Why would you do this instead of getting her to give you her number and you calling her right then, or handing your phone to her and having her put it in herself?

All she has to do is look at it, think to herself if you are worth it, then drop the card on the floor and walk away.
