well technically, any normal, empathetic human being should yawn within a few moments of you yawning. they don't have to be looking, the mere sound of a yawn can trigger the same.

An easier way would be to check your own watch. Make it like you're just nonchalantly checking the time. Chances are, someone who is paying attention to you will inadvertently check their watch, too. More subtle than pulling a fake yawn... and making a fake yawn look real is actually very hard to do.
