Say what you will about online dating, but it has gone from bearing the "lonesome loser" stigma to an efficient form of communication and matchmaking over the past several years. I was also skeptical at first, even after my initial experiences. After reading this field report, the gears in my head started turning.
First I was faced with a grim reality that I hadn't encountered before. Most women with the red dot (replies selectively) probably spend most of their time deleting messages and weeding through them. Facing that prospect, I know that my profile had to be interesting and attention grabbing. I've done profiles in the past back in my AFC days, but they were boring, generated few responses and few visitors, and only attracted average women at best.
The project
Over the next several days, I'm going to calibrate my profile to find out what generates the most attention. For today (day one), I started at the very extreme end of the spectrum using dry, sarcastic humor with CF elements. Despite how negative it is, it's funny and it evokes an emotional response. Yet, it works purely off of the "less is more" theory:
Self Summary: I guess I could do what everyone else does and talk about how there's nobody else like me, but in reality i'm just your typical intellectual butthole. If you don't know what that's like, watch an episode of House and you'll get the idea. Don't say I didn't warn you. You will probably get further talking about Socrates, quantum physics, or how cats slurp water than talking about how awesome you are, Jersey Shore, or who is sleeping with who.
I'm here to do what every other guy does on OkCupid, send a message to some hot babe and wait for hours in a dark room praying for a reply while the same hot babe is deleting two hundred messages in her inbox.
I should probably put this part here just in case: sorry ladies, I don't put out on the first date. Don't ask me why, that's just how I roll. If you don't like it, tough shit.
What you're doing with your life: I once represented the USA at the world series of not giving a fuck.
But I have a day job too. I work at a factory that produces pink slips, cubicles, and motivational posters. You know, all the wonderful shit that makes corporate douchebaggery possible. You're welcome.

When she first messaged me, she really let her claws out. I qualify her a little and gently tell her to lighten up. She restates her point from before, but more softly. Then qualify her some more and she begins to pour her heart and soul. From there, I knew the cat was in the bag. I gave her my number and we made arrangements to meet Wednesday for day two.
If you want a transcript, I'll make a txt post at the end of the project.
For Tomorrow
I'm going to take HB7's advice and I'm going to make it a bit lighter, less negative, and far less cynical. However, I'm going to enhance the CF and adventure frame.
Until tomorrow, stay classy.
