Seriously, it's all about actually being who you are representing yourself as in the conversation. The second you fake something (interest in her clothes/accessories, job, drink, whatever) that isn't there (i.e. you could care less and it is obvious) the girl is going to rightly assume that there is an ulterior motive that is governing the interaction. This suspicion is creepiness.

Now you might have a genuine interest but still seem off because you are nervous or too drunk or whatever and you will still come off this way, while you might be a real good bullshitter and not give a fuck about her volunteer work at an animal shelter but play it to perfection and seem genuine. So it isn't a perfect indicator or judgement, it is just the amount of congruence that she feels (which may or may not be accurate).

The biggest mistake you could make is to say something unsurely - nothing makes someone look more wishywashy than someone who seems like they would be willing to take back whatever they just said. And rightly so, if you don't say something like you mean it and stand by it, then clearly you don't care about it and are talking for a different reason.

A big part of creepiness comes from not being clear in your intentions. I think in Flawless Natural, Tim mentions woo/state without intent = dancing monkey, and intent without woo/state = creepiness. It makes sense really: as one example, staring at a hot girl in the bar, but never approaching her = creepy. Escalating too much at once can also be creepy.

This is a sticking point I'm just getting over personally. You have to get used to trusting yourself and your instincts on this one. It's something that largely auto-corrects itself the more you approach.

Your conversations don't need a context. If you're happy and expressing yourself you can get away with murder, let alone sarging a girl in a club.
