A big focus on pickup is to make sure your intent is clear right from the get-go. You see a girl, you meet that girl, and she immediately knows you're interested in her by the way you talk, act, kino, etc.

That is the reason most game is focused on the bar scene; people are more receptive to meeting new people who they assume will escalate things right on the spot.

At work or in a small hangout with friends? Usually not a good idea to employ bar tactics (in fact, it could threaten your job)

My best advice, once you have already met someone at work or within a friend group, display you have interest right away. Don't do so through touching or flirting (again, one wrong move and your job could be on the line) but instead display your affection verbally.

The easiest is, "Hey we seem to get along really well, but I feel I don't know you as well as I'd like. Come get coffee with me during our lunchbreak/after work."

Start by inviting her to lunch. Then for drinks after work. Then out to dinner. Then to your place.
