It seems like the general advice on seddit is that to attract a girl, you should show very little interest and try to convince her you have a lot of romantic options. The idea of showing anything more than a cursory interest is an absolutely terrible idea. That if she doesn't respond to your one text, well, game over. You want to project yourself as the super alpha male who sleeps around and chews bubble gum (and is all out of bubblegum). This is generally the view I have taken and continue to take.

In contrast to this, I am finding more and more woman around my age (27ish) are turned off by this vibe. Several of my female friends have dropped guys after a few dates because "he was too smooth". Some also screen guys with a bit of hard to get. They want the guy to show some interest. Of course, they admit it's a very fine balance between showing the right amount of interest and appearing too desperate or needy.

Whether they say it or not these girls are starting to look to settle down. I should mention that a lot of these girls who express these sentiments are attractive, successful, and charming. They are not worried about dying alone or missing their chance to have kids. From my conversations with them I gleam that the reason they hate "too smooth" and the like is that they feel it's insincere. They want a human connection.

Maybe seddit is aware of such woman. I don't read many posts here. I just thought the difference in viewpoints was interesting.
