I think you spoke about your feelings a whole lot.

Not a huge mistake when it comes to life as a whole.

Doesn't work to make girls attracted to you, though.

Thing is, when it didn't work, you did what a lot of guys do when they think they have no chance with a girl and have something to blame it on.

You "told her off."

That never builds attraction, and it doesn't even necessarily make you feel better about the situation.

It's not like your dad died. Some feelings are best left unexpressed, because they have no depth - the knee-jerk kinds of emotions need to sit for a bit.

ESPECIALLY if they're motivated by oneitis.

honestly when a girl has resumed talking to their ex, its going to be tough to pry them off. i think you did the right thing in accordance with your feelings and refused to be the fallback, props for that. sometimes you just gotta cut the cord man.

I think "laying your hand on the table" wasn't a good move. You basically told her "you can choose between having a relationship with me and dump the ex or we are done". That is a big ass ultimatum and not a good way to start a relationship.

I think you should have continued seducing her and escalating. This way she will either reject your attempts at escalating in which case you accomplished the exact same thing or she would have gone with it and you could have slept with her and either make her forget about her ex or force her to choose but this time on equal grounds (as you have a more intimate relationship).

btw. Did you only kiss her and then went a "couple of dates" without progressing any further? If this is the case and it's not because of young age/inexperience than maybe you moved too slow which made her lose interest.
