Basically it's a way of communicating that excludes the verb "to be" and allows the communicator to convey his point without judgement.

This is off topic from your post but i think it shares some parallel because you become aware of how your language impacts your actions and the people around you.

I came here to make a comment about the song "I Wish" by Skee-Lo. I got beaten to the punch by two people. Two people.

It's not like the song is at the height of its popularity. It's well known, but it's not "Call Me Maybe". This subreddit isn't massively popular, either. It has 60,000 subscribers. How could this happen? Am I unoriginal? Is the internet comprised solely of Skee-Lo fans today? I guess we will never know.
