So this friend, I like her. We went on two dates but nothing happened because both times she was seeing someone. The first date was when she was seeing a friend of mine and the second was when he was away on study abroad. When he was away on study abroad she started seeing his friend and they eventually got into a relationship. This new guy I'm not really friends with, he's just in the group I hang out with.

Now that the background stuff is over, this is not a topic about me hooking up with her or anything, I like to think I have more class than that, especially when her boyfriend is around. While we were at the bar a guy comes to try and hit on her. He tries to keep her boyfriend away from her by blocking him and getting in the middle of them while her back is turned. When the boyfriend moves left, the guy moves left. So the boyfriend eventually gets around the guy and guy says "Oh is this your boyfriend?"

Boyfriend responds "Yes I am actually."

The guy then threatens the boyfriend for some reason and says something about putting the boyfriend's face into his knee. The boyfriend responded with "Go ahead, no one is stopping you."

The response just annoyed me. I like to think that if a guy attempted to block me from my girlfriend I'd have a much more alpha male like response, like touch him on the shoulder and to assert dominance and tell him what's up. Just want seddit's take on this, what would you do? Because the boyfriend's reaction just seemed completely pussy to me.
