Honestly man, everything you learn here isn't always about picking up women and getting laid. Confidence, conversation skills, body language, and a myriad of inner game skills all contribute to being successful in life regardless of what you are doing. Everyone needs these skills whether you are approaching people on the street for a charity or closing international deals in skyscrapers, they are all the same skills.

No man, you aren't making it out to be better than it is - you're completely right.

You'll eliminate almost all AA, and become a hell of a lot more comfortable speaking with strangers. Think about it as paid practice! If you're working in malls, there'll be tons of good looking girls to open, and you never know - you might bag a number along with a sale (or even just a number, either way you're making a bit of cash!)

What /u/Memitim901 said is also true about building skills for life. They will absolutely translate into greater confidence and being stronger in social situations in general.

I work for a presidential campaign, and since ive been doing voter registration and getting commitments to vote, and having to speak in front of groups of volunteers to get the results and numbers i need, it really has done wonders for my confidence and approach technique - trying to get charity donations from strangers will do exactly the same thing - http://cdn.uproxx.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/ben-stiller-do-it.gif

I've had several jobs that have involved approaching random people on the street. They have distinctly helped my confidence in opening random people and trying to get rapport quickly. I was never confident enough to try and go for attraction when I was opening these sets, but several of my co workers have used that strategy to great effect.

It'll help you get over AA, ask people how their day is going, etc. You might even learn a few stories. A lot of my customers at the grocery store I work at are all super awesome. And honestly, I use a lot of the ridiculous shit they say and play it off to a story to a girl. They love that kind of shit, lol.

I used to work at a Salvation Army which was semi-similar. I helped the people donate their stuff(i.e grab the stuff from their vans/cars, help lift furniture, etc.) and got a lot of talking done during that. However, I suppose yours is mainly talking to new people every time, whereas I had a lot of regulars and talked to the other workers a lot.

And yes, it was awesome for developing better social skills.
