Everytime I'm DJing I get requests for specific songs. I ignore most of them. No offence, but some people have bad taste or poor timing. My job as the DJ is to know what to play when.

A few nights ago I'm DJing and a HB8 I had recently met through a friend pops up. I recognise her and walk over to talk to her briefly. She says Hi, that she's enjoying herself, then she asks for a specific song. I say I'll see if I can find it - my standard response.

I didn't have the song so I didn't play it. Didn't think any more about it. Didn't speak to her again that night. Enjoyed myself playing some great tunes and controlling the room.

Today I get a FB message from her: "[Your set] was an improvement [on the other DJs who I rotate with], you didn't play [song] though! So fancy going for a drink sometime in between your busy Djing schedule."

To which I responded: "Ha that's right, you requested [song]! Crazy night. It was so tight there wasn't room for one more tune. It will feature next time now I know how much it means to you! : P Drink sounds good. Give me your number. I'm going out tonight."

So seddit, how did I play it? I was thrown off by her asking me out - that was unusual.

EDIT: I'm new to seddit - Previous GF for 5 years (since 18) - not used to these experiences. Looking for advice & comments on how I dealt with the situation & messages
