it's pretty common I think.

It's sorta like reading a book and instead just thinking about sex the entire time, like obsessing about it.

Once you get sex, you are just thinking about that book now.

My guess would be to keep trying until you find a female that absolutely captivates you. But they are rare specimens indeed.

I have the same problem. I attribute it to the evolutionary tendency of men being hunters. Once the 'prey is in the bag' if you will, the thrill of the chase subsides. I'm older and at the point where I'm content knowing a girl is into me and leaving it at that in certain cases rather than going into a relationship which I dont necessarily want.

It's possibly that you like the thrill of the chase, but also it could be a low self esteem issue on your part. If deep down you hold yourself in low self esteem, once you know a girl likes you you start to believe that she isn't worth having because she likes you.

I think its quite possible that once the chase is over, you start to feel "I could get her = she's not the challenge that will satiate me" OR "She thinks i'm great = She's probably not that great herself"

The first may just have to do with the phase you are in. You continue to like the chase - even if u think u want to put an end to it. The hunter within you still yearns that thrill of the challenge.

The second may have to do with your own self esteem. I was one such girl who liked someone - honestly, authentically & genuinely - but got really shoddy behavior in return. It hit me hard - mostly becoz of the way he handled the situation.

Much later, I found out that the guy never "thought himself to be good enough for me" - so the easiest way for him to stay in control was to reject me before i got the chance to reject him.

Just a guess here but maybe it's like the thing from Scrubs. You want something that you can't have and then when you do get it, if you do, you don't want it anymore.
