Don't isolate yourself with a phone... do some warmup sets. Since you're an alpha, you should be asking yourself what nearby options can keep you interested for 30 minutes (or longer). Keep an eye out for social proof.

Have all new girls meet you at your house, and then you go somewhere. That way, if you're waiting, you're doing so on your own couch, comfortable. :) And if they don't show, no worries. I always do this now. If I haven't gone out with her at least once before, she's coming here or she ain't seeing me.

Mystery Method recommends it anyway. Have her come in briefly while you get your stuff, then go. Bringing her home after the date isn't so weird then...it's a place she's been before anyway.

Get there early, open some practice sets, play with your material, have a fun time.

Tell your date about all the fun you've been having - you had this funny conversation with a complete stranger about Japan or something.

Getting a drink and socializing is always good.

However, If you want to fiddle with you phone, read a book or simply enjoy your drink you should be able to do that without feeling a creeper.

Reading seddit I always get the feeling that everyone is afraid to be alone in a bar for longer than 30 secs. If you are even slightly confident nobody will care If you are alone. If anyone want to talk to me they can (and will) come.

I often take a bit of time for myself to let the day settle in, so that I'm do not project work vibes all over the girl in the first 10 minutes.

Get comfortable with the places you go on your own time. Go their alone. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a confident guy at a bar alone. One of the most enjoyable ways I spend time is going to bars alone to check out the scene, not generally pick people up (unless there is just someone too good to pass up) and make friends with the staff. Especially if you go at slower times/days you can really make the shift of the people that work there just by keeping it interesting, funny and light. Great opportunity to practice funny material too.

When dates due come around potentially you are buddy buddy with the service staff which is always good social proof and you are very comfortable in the environment so getting in state is 100% natural.

Or learn to become AWARE of your awareness of being uncomfortable. Just by becoming more aware and self-observant you automatically shift your focus away from what is causing you distress.
