You should have replied with a swift roundhouse kick to the side of her head. As you walk away from her unconscious body you mutter that you too have been working out. Perhaps a brief critique of the guys poem might go down well, with a bit of encouragement on the side.

You gave the guy the best opportunity to make you look like a tool mate, especially if you know jack shit about poetry.

Never put yourself in those situations where you might be called out to answer immature remarks.

What would have been absolutely boss would be if you took the poem from her, and gave it a healthy, unbiased, critique. Gave the guy some pointers and then asked the girl what SHE thought.

LOL I had a similar situation, girl just randomly kicked me in my ass cause I left her in class ( we usually walk together to our next class ) I spanked her pretty hard right after she got beside me.

Say "it was okay, but I think you got better in you" then pretend to present yourself for another kick. When she goes for it, grab her leg and play wrestle a little. Escalate a little Kino, whisper that the poem was okay but the iambic pentameter was sub par, that it reminded you of early Yates with a hint of Tennyson. Then pull out your gun and tell her to get in the van.

Laughing at the guy makes you look insecure and kind of jealous. Definitely a DLV.

As for the kick, if it was a playful one I guess you can just kick her back later in the night. Obviously not hard, but do it the same way she did it to you with a shit-eating grin on. If it wasn't playful and she actually was angry at you then she had a right to be and you really shouldn't do anything to try to get back at her, and it's probably best not to talk about it again.

First of all, you shouldn't have laughed at the guy. The guy gives her a poem who cares, that just shows you're insecure. And man, this girl kicked you in the ass and you congratulate her? When she did that you should've asked her what her problem was, and after her answer just reply I don't have time for child's play and walked away. Then the guy calls you out for talking shit about his poem and you shrivel like a puppy. The first thing I would recommend you do is gain some dignity.
