Have you read the Di Carlo escalation ladder? It's worked pretty well on the few occasions I've had a chance to try it.

Roughly, here's the part for when you've got her alone, and want to escalate to sex:

Kiss her
Kiss her neck.
Put your hands under her shirt on the small of her back.
Raise her shirt to expose her stomach.
Do the same with yours, and touch stomachs (innocent seeming, but very intimate)
Kiss her stomach.
While kissing her stomach, put your arm between her legs against the bed and incidentally stimulate her pussy.
Put your hands inside her underware on her ass.
Reach down and finger her from behind.
Remove panties.

Each step seems innocent, a small step from what she already accepted. But it moves pretty rapidly to sex.

Actually to say something progressive, I can only see this in two ways. First way, you're messed up in the attraction and sexual escalation stage of your pickup. Now this doesn't really stand too well seeing as you actually took you home. The second reason maybe she may have had the intention of sleeping with you, but her LMR (last minute resistance) and/or Anti-slut defense kicked in.

But honestly... who knows. Maybe you should either think of a a way to get around her LMR (see the bottom of salem's post), or just take it as the progression to get what you want from this girl (either to just sleep with her or have it become a relationship). If I had to make a guess, I would probably have to settle it being between her anti-slut defenses and you not gaining enough attraction with her to have you sleep her in one night. However, that is a shot in the dark, and just an educated guess.
