If she has done this a few times, I wouldn't allow her to go "just kidding!". If she goes, "Hmm I duno, you've been mean to me", I would just say 'Yeah you're right. You can have this weekend (or night) off to recover." Then just stick to your guns till she is pleading to keep the date alive.

You're kind of chasing her in this situation. Not a bad thing within itself, but with her tendency to keep doing this would mean to give her a little reprimand. Now you're more in control with giving her what she, apparently, wants.

Now it does have the problem of backfiring on you with her just bailing, but some times it is best to just move on than play a game that isn't that amusing for you. Just my two cents though. Best of luck to you, though. Let us know what you do use and what the outcome was.

tell her to stop wasting your time. maybe even tell her to fuck off. Her "tendency" as you call it is really a control mechanism that she's using over you. She's playing you for a response and jerking your chain as soon as you start wander. Actually... just tell her to fuck off. That shit isn't worth your time.

Shit test. She wants to play you, see how you'll react. This is how she judges your worth. You don't got time for that and let her know that. Tell her you're going to do something else. Then do it. Contact her again later. She will realize she screwed up last time and put more effort into it, or will at least stop playing that game. You control to end result, not her.

You wouldn't want a girl trying to change you right? This sounds like this is just part of her personality, she likes to joke around.

You just have to gauge if dealing with this personality quirk is worth it.

I know this was just one example in your post, but if you have a hard time getting her to commit once the location and time is set... stop inviting her over to your house.

Maybe your place is too suggestive and personal (even if you are not implying that at all). Try inviting her somewhere neutral, for a simple activity... coffee, bowling, people watching at the mall.

IMO when I am being invited over to someone's place (or likewise when I do the inviting)... it usually implies sexy times. I've certainly played the wishy-washy game before and told people to straight up fuck-off when they do that. I've also been stone walled by people like this as well.

TL/DR: call her out, or stop wasting your time on her. She's just pulling strings.
