No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert Glover. It's a self-help book by a psychologist that goes into detail about how society's "nice guys" are actually very outcome-dependent and manipulative people. It also goes into being more direct and assertive with people and setting your boundaries of what you'll put up with from people.

Here are a few tips straight from the book:

If you do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.
Face difficult situations and conflict head on.
Think "abundance."
Have fun. If you are not having fun, something is wrong.
Give yourself room to fail. There are no mistakes, only learning experiences.

Approach anxiety and inner game are two huge bells that went off in my head as I typed those just now. Check it out, a lot of this stuff applies to Game and life in general.

Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse on outcome independence.
The Discourses of Epictetus for Emotional Self-Control.
The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle.

I liked Neitzsche a lot when I was in university, but a lot of his stuff is garbage, and most of his good points are covered by Epictetus and the other stoics and are done better. I'm currently reading "The Blank Slate" by Steven Pinker. It's really good.
