Hey everyone, I'm new here and posting under a throwaway. Here are three quick facts that summarize my story/situation, with more details below

(1) I'm a male sophomore at a small-ish liberal arts college in the northeastern United States

(2) I'm overweight and not terribly attractive, and

(3) I've never been in a relationship/gotten anywhere close to sexual/or even kissed a girl

To elaborate a little...I've always been a somewhat popular and likable guy. I'm active in campus life and student government. In high school I was even more active in student life and had tons of friends. In college (now) I'm not as popular, but I'm definitely not a complete loaner.

I don't know why, but I've never been able to get anywhere with women. Believe me, I want to. But my problem is that the girls I tend to be attracted to are people I become friends with first, and then I don't want to risk jeopardizing the friendship by trying to make a move. I also have no idea how to make a move. Do people just say "Hey [person's name], I'm very attracted to you"?

Also, I'm terribly awkward at parties. Whenever my college has big dance parties that are "grind fests" I always avoid them, and I rarely feel comfortable at smaller dorm parties unless close friends are hosting them. I don't know how to get over this social anxiety.

Anyway, I know this is a lot of info and probably covered in the FAQs, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately and needed to vent somewhere. I'd really appreciate any advice.
