Here's how you do it:

Take them out (Not necessarily on a date, just go DO something social with them), hang out in a park, go to a flea market, go bowling, play pool, ANY kind of social activity. A movie is not a social activity.

Through this, you must KINO, build some new rapport, and break it too. To build new rapport, find what's new in her life, and qualify. Don't judge, don't insult, just listen, and find out why she does what she does. To break rapport, make her laugh, joke, touch, tickle, whatever. You won't need to build much comfort because you've known each other for two whole decades. As long as you're escalating, with both kino and conversation, the tension will be there.

Finally, DO NOT use your past as a means to date one another. She will start associating your time together as friends again, and all this comfort will come rushing in, and you'll be her BFF again. Start new, and move forward.

Other than that, have a good time, show her how cool you can be.
