So I was at the gym today and somehow my mind wandered on this story from two years ago and figured I would share it.

So I still live in the city I went to college at with most of the people I still know from college living here as well. We're all off doing our own things but every Sunday during football season we'd get together at this bar to catch up and watch games. It became our Cheers, essentially. We knew all the bartenders, the owner, the regulars and it was a great place to hang out. One of the bartenders (HB8) was friendly with our group and knew of me but I never really talked to her much. One of the friends in my group, however, talked to her all the time and had a pretty big crush on her.

As the season wore on he would keep his focus on her and I would have my focus on the games or other people near me. One night we ended up staying til after the Sunday night game and only he and I were left with her and after her shift was over she asked if we wanted to go next door to grab a drink (she couldn't drink on the job, obviously). We all agreed and headed next door and just hung out. We all talked, drank and had a lot of fun together and eventually, for my own amusement, asked her for her number and handed her my phone. What happened next was the purpose for this post, my friend looked at her and then me and with a shocked tone asked "wait, why are you giving him your number?" She just looked at me, smiled and said "well, he asked for it."

It's really that simple. If you want something and you don't ask for it don't be upset when you don't get it. Women aren't mind readers and they're just as scared, if not more so, to put themselves out there so if you don't take control and just tell her your intentions then she'll just end up lumping you in the "no testicles" category and finding someone who feels comfortable asking for what he wants.

Hopefully other people can add some stories of "just asking" and showing the results.
