Texting just to chat?

When girls do this I respond, but only sporadically throughout the day. If it gets beyond 5-6 texts I just stop responding for the day. It keeps it from being rude but sends a clear message that if she wants to chat she's going to need to come see me in person.

If she insists on text, the best piece of advice I've seen is this:

Text is a way you make her laugh. Don't talk about anything mundane, or in a mundane way; make it exaggerated and humorous and light hearted. Feel free to be flirty and get serious, show off your how dynamic you are emotionally in person, just make her laugh over text.

But still be concise and don't drag out text conversations.

That being said, I've managed to convince the four closest girls I talk to that FaceTime is the best option. Now that we've done it a few times, none of them want to text a whole lot and they (at my persuasion) want to FaceTime. Sure, it's a little less convenient than do-it-on-your-own-time text, but it has almost all the advantages (except physical contact) that face-to-face meeting has. Some took some convincing (she called it "cute" when another guy was texting her all the time, thinking about her, etc.), but she came over to my side after trying it.

Here's the reason I use with them (it's true): Some study pointed to how only 7% of meaning in conversation is carried over in the content of the words. Much more meaning and connection is found in tone of voice, facial expressions, body language, etc. I strive for meaningful connections with the people I'm interested in, and so I prefer FaceTime to text.

I think this works really well/makes me attractive to them for a few reasons:

Makes you stand out: you aren't one of those vapid heathens that texts all day long
You're knowledgable about social interaction - don't think a lot of girls can stand completely oblivious guys, no matter what rom-com propaganda tells us
It dawns on them that you want a meaningful connection with them - way cuter than "hey babe I was thinking of you this morning"
It makes them realize how meaningless/empty their text conversations with other guys are - cuts the competition

I hate this rule seddit has come up with. Although I incidentally happen to follow it. I treat texting women I like the same way I text my guy friends. I don't text my guy friends to see how their day is going. If I see or have something funny I send it to them. If they text me I respond. The moment it starts bothering me I either call them or respond later. No need to treat woman any differently. Having said that I tend to send more dick picks to my guy friends than girl friends.

You need to figure out what's going on.

Is she interested in you? Or does she just want a friend? If she wants just a friend, then you have to decide if you want to be her friend or not. There's nothing wrong with just being a friend, but you're gonna have a bad time if you're "interested" in her and just sees you as a friend.

If she wants something more, then you should set up a date with her. That's why people say that texting is just for logistics.

Continue living your life. You are not there as her therapist or buddy to chat with when she is bored.

I've had plenty of girls like this. Continue living your life and if you have some time here and there, you can reply briefly (and keep your texts brief as well). Be your usual alpha/funny/cocky self, but texting is not chat time. Save it for in person.

You can respond a few times, but if it's any more than that or she is texting you all day, stop responding at some point. If she freaks out or asks why, just respond later and tell her you were busy with [insert awesome activity that you do here].

To chat about what? Chances are she just wants validation. If you're young (why do you strike me as the 16-18 bracket?), this isn't the end of the world, and is pretty normal. If you enjoy texting too, sure, go for it. But you have to have gone out with her at least. In general, just take it as a sign that she's into you and ask her out. Continue the conversation in person ;)

I do not advise this strategy at all. Avoid it. Don't respond or cut the convo short saying you have to run and do something.
