What you're talking about in this situation isn't protecting her from the sexual competition, but protecting her from an uncomfortable situation. You see creepy dude talking to her, she can't get away, so all you do is go over and say you need to talk to her in private for a minute, go to another part of the party and bam, problem solved. It's the exact same thing if you're at an office party and the 60 year old cat lady secretary has cornered her in an unending boring story about some shit no one cares about.

If your friends are really so insecure and shitty that they need to stoop to stealing from you, you need better friends.

The easiest way to deal with it is to just be the best option. If other guys aren't any real competition for you, then you have nothing to worry about anyway. And if they start getting handsy, you can always step in and get physical with them. Sometimes a little show of force is a great way to keep the apes in line.

This can be a brag, btw. It's a variation of the "omg guys are so creepy they always hit on me!" complain-brag that is an attempt to communicate "Men find me very sexually attractive". In a relationship it also doubles as a drama producer.

Be willing to leave at any moment and show it. If you don't like something make it clear, if she is serious for you she will catch you up, if not her loss.

However if you feel that the male in question is creepy or untrustworthy in any way guys like that are easy to deal, with just show confidence. That type of bloke has no confidence and won't stand up to you in any case, especially if you have good friends around.

I think you handled it well. One thing that keeps me grounded in these situations is if you know you are already in. For instance, she came with you, you have a huge huge one up on any rando from the party (assuming you are more than friends). So when a dude is clearly trying to chat her up, I just remember that this guy is going to put his whole night into gaming the girl and then I am going to take her home! So don't be the chump playing games, be the guy who's already won. Helps me stay level headed and not do anything stupid.

ive had a couple of supposed friends either outright steal one of my girls or really go to far. Now I am protective, walk up to them and tell them, "thats my bitch". If she doesn't like it, she can fuck off. And if he doesn't like it, he can catch a knuckle sandwich. I will not let people disrespect me any more and neither should you.

I try to logically talk everything out, from a nonemotional perspective.

I would have started with "hey it seems like that guy really likes you." If she is like "yeah I like him too" then its over you. If she is like "no he's being creepy" I would have been like "well let me know if you need me to rescue him from you."
