So I've been talking to some girls lately, and a struggle I face is when the conversation gets personal.

I get that this is positive, because she trusts me and we build an emotional bond and all. But how do you guys react when she tells you a personal story, (i.e. bad home situation).

Regular convo threading doesn't work here, because I don't want to make her talk more about it than she feels comfortable with. Also, I read something on here where it says that

"Girls comfort eachother in conversations by exchanging their own experiences, as opposed to guys who comfort eachother by saying that 'it'll all be fine'." This works like a charm in regular convo, but when she's telling me something personal it feels like I'm 1-upping her story, and I don't want that!

So, how to deal with personal conversations?
