I am a college student, old enough to legally go to bars. The thing about my college is that the bars that we do go to are typically 90% students from my school, and the other 10% are random local folks who I have no intention talking to. I go to school in small city (25,000 people), so I don't have to luxury of really going to any other bars besides the 2-3 bars that my friend group and I frequent.

Additionally, my college is relatively small. Small enough that I recognize mostly any potential girl at these bars whether they're my friends or just people you know through other people.

The problem is that since everyone sort of knows each other either directly or through someone else, I have serious anxiety over approaching a girl in this scenario. I've heard some of my girl friends talk about how so-and-so approached them at the bar and tried to pick them up and they thought it was gross etc. The fear of being talked about like that keeps me from approaching any girl.

Ever since breaking up with my ex-gf, I'm on a 6-month dry spell and haven't done so much as kiss a girl in that time. Now, I'm not ugly, overweight, or mean. But this AA due to the circumstances is crippling my game, and I need to break the dry spell.

Has any other /r/seddit member faced a similar scenario? How did you overcome it?

tl;dr: go to small college, all bars are mostly my fellow classmates whom I know directly/through someone, have AA because I don't want to be talked about poorly if my attempts fail
