Day 4 - Talk to 10 People

Reddit View

This should be easy. You're already going to the gym today. There are plenty of people there.

Today you will talk to 10 people that you do not know. Conversations should last around 30 seconds (if not longer).

This will be easy for some of you. This might even be a normal day for some of you. Heck, some of you surpass 10 easily.

Learning to be a source of confidence is part of becomming a man.

Much like seddit encourages approaching women regularly, we will learn to break down any anxiety about talking to strangers at all. Men or women, you will have a conversation with 10 people today.

Here are some easy ones to get you started:

Talk about the game with guys at the gym. Talk about your difficulty in food choice with people in grocery store aisles. Talk about something funny in the news with somebody at the bar.

This might seem like basic shit. And it is. But unless you can do it, and be sure you can, then you cannot become a man.

For the introverts: Doesn't matter. Deal with the anxiety. Part of being a man is doing what needs to be done even when you don't like it.

If you haven't gotten the book yet, you're running out of time.

OK this is the easiest one of all for me. Always has been. My problem with talking to people, especially attractive women has been that frame of "We aren't going to be friends, I really just want to sleep with you." A lot of that has to do with being married for many years...I took commitment seriously. I'd chat up a 9~10 with no motives. My future relationships/sexual satisfaction now depends on my frame/motives.

I may or may not talk to 10 different people today, but I will talk to about 100 or more Friday night and 100 or more on Saturday. Which is my piece of advice for this part....volunteer with something you like that gets you into the community serving and meeting people.

This weekend I will be volunteering by tending bar (or working the front of house) at the community theater. I will meet/greet or otherwise talk with close to 300 people each night. Teasing good looking women about their choice of drinks or coaxing tips out of them is a lot of fun.

As an alpha friend told me this summer...when he worked the bar at these events he got more phone numbers from women in his single days than he could call.

As an aside, as we were having this conversation about working charity bar up at the theater to meet people, we were being chatted up by a blond drunk 6 who kept doing stuff to get our attention though we were both married and more interested in talking about how he got hit on by various women while working bar.

Great ideas. Bar tending is great for getting numbers.

You can volunteer to Tend Bar?

[–]ospurt 2 points3 points  (3 children) | Copy

Yes. Many charitable organizations run bars at events. I've tended bar, run beer tents and lots of other things since college.

First time I did it was in a beer tent at a community street festival in college that raised money for downtown cultural events.

You overlap two groups for day game targets. The organization and the patrons. It also helps because the attitude toward a volunteer is different than a paid employee. You can generally hold longer conversations and if you have good intel on the organization you have good situational topics to open a girl up.

Not to mention everyone approaches you, so all you have to do is pick up the ball and run. It is also horribly easy to flirt with a girl in a female pack, or with her guy right next to her.

Well, i should get involved with that.

How do you flirt with girls when you're tending a bar? Don't you have to get things done quickly and keep chatting to a minimum?

[–]ospurt 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

It is a charity bar and typically once the first flush of people gets their first drinks things slow down and space out so you can chat with people.

However, the concept in this lesson is to get out there and be able to interact with people. You would be surprised the difference between volunteers who are warm and chatty behind the bar and those who just take drink orders.

The goal is to be the first type of person.

1) Talked to a guy at the bus stop. He was a landscaper from Missouri visiting Family. it is not hot where we were. Just ask him

2) Woman on the bus. I can pick up bus passes at Walgreens. get a week pass until June 20th, then buy a monthly pass

3) Teller waiting for a bus. She likes Barbacoa and has never had lengua. She's so so on avocado. I told her she was wrong.

4) Does an interview count? I had a job interview. Killed it.

5) Old guy in line at cousins. Beautiful hidden lake near the cousins with a fantastic asphalt path to walk. He loves it

6) Transit Bus authority randomely checks busses. They are hiring, I should head to the offices and fill out an app!

7) Bus driver hates all the questions he gets. He does an 8 hour shift. Likes the blue line because it's continuous and regular.

8)Barrista wants to be done with college. We talked about how great college life is. You can't knock on your neighbors door and see if they want to go see a movie for 2 bucks at the union. Resolved to knowck on my neighbors door and ask them if they want to see a movie at the Union.

9) Emily, a wedding planner. She has a great eye and went to school at Madison, same as I. Number closed.

10) Planet Fitness clerk - She runs, made her show me her guns and she let me squeeze her arm. They were wimpy, I gave her a look that said so.

11) Talked to a person about the Spurs/Heat game. Lamented the Spurs losing (No nothing about basketball)

12) Discussed proper squat form with a guy at the gym

13) had a conversation about Milkshakes with the clerk at speedway. She hates she's getting fat because they are free for her. She also made the mistake of stocking cigarettes early.

Day 4

1) The girl at the print shop is working with the same company as I worked with last year, and we're auditioning for the same show. She's a fan.

2) Shelby, works two jobs and wants to be a Librarian.

3) Target teller and I talked about auditions and how much the show pays. 4) Met my new neighbor. She's hot! Also, talked about work, we're sort of in the same industry.

5-10) Folks I met at a birthday party.

This one turned out to be much harder than I thought. I don't think I would have made it without the party. I pretty much forced myself to go because of today's assignment.

I have a feeling I may run in to a similar problem...

I don't often have an issue talking to people, but due to my lifestyle and location there are days where I don't actually see more than 5 or 6 people.

I will attempt to go out of my way today to talk to 10 people...

Heart races if I think of sex, can't stop thinking of possibility of sex. Finally thinking inner alpha, and thinking faster (i.e. mind creates "what to say" faster than before). Method: comment outwards as much as possible, in any non-threatening situation. Forcing myself from tomorrow.

I try not to think of possibility of sex. Wayyy too soon. It's kind of a creeper thought to consider fucking someone you just met.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
