As a kid, I suffered from mild stammering that I have now outgrown for the most part. However, it's not gone completely since there are only a handful of words I still cannot say. Unfortunately, one of those words is my name.

When I'm talking to myself I can say my name just fine but when someone asks me for my name, the stammering comes back and it's extremely embarrassing. Because of this my self-confidence has taken a big hit and I don't feel like meeting new people anymore. Since introductions happen at the beginning of a conversation, I feel as if this leaves a bad impression on whoever I'm talking to. What can I do to overcome my stammering on just this one word?

I don't know if this is because I'm nervous or something because as soon as introductions are over, I am able to comfortably make small talk, crack a few jokes here and there, and everything is back to normal. The other words I have trouble with is something I can easily avoid. I can't really avoid my name. If you were to talk to me, past introductions, you wouldn't be able to tell that I have a speech problem

I've been trying a few exercises but they aren't working. Whenever I'm walking by someone I quickly whisper my name quietly enough so that they can't hear and I don't seem stammer at all then. Other times, I would imagine I'm talking to someone and I don't stammer when I'm visualizing this conversation in my mind and talking out loud.

Additional note: A few months ago I completely overcame my stammering for almost 7-8 months and could say my name just fine whenever someone asked. Only recently did I relapse.
