Talk to them as a group first. Get their interest and then isolate her. Infact if after talking to them and they like you. They will get the message and give you some alone time with her.

It is very essential that you open the group and not just the girl.

But more importantly, I am hoping that you didn't do anything weird or creepy. If you didn't then don't beat yourself up. Something you need to understand about approaching is that you are literally engaging a stranger/group of strangers. It could be that they have personal circumstances(such as somewhere to go to) that led to this awkward incident or they were just not friendly or maybe they were all gay. Because you don't really know anything about a set before you open it, don't beat yourself up by wondering how you could have handled the situation better. Unless, ofcourse, you believe that you were not running a tight game or you were creepy or something like that.

Assuming you have engaged them all at least for a little bit, the most effective strategy from my experience is to get the girl who is into you to deal with them. With that said, this is going to happen, A LOT. Get used to it.

Use peripheral vision. Though you should always go in on your girl first.

If the girls are looking at you or they aren't having fun then you need to engage them. Girls will get super jealous if they aren't enjoying themselves. If not, you can ignore them and isolate. You're best off engaging them at some point even if it's just to introduce yourself.

The important point is to get the friends a little attracted to you so they want your approval(it's also fun watching her friend's expression go from "Oh some creep hitting on my friend" to "Ooooh, he's charming" in a second flat). Usually you can do this just from an introduction with solid sub-communications, but sometimes you need to throw in a line of banter.

If they're still being shitty you can sneak her away when they aren't paying attention.

Ask 'Who are you here with' early to figure out who you need to watch out for and who can help you. This can also save you time in case she's there with a BF.
