Hey seddit,

I've been going out solo for a while now. My friends are pessimists whose idea of fun is sitting at an old bar while bitching and moaning all night. It took me a while to realize how they were bringing me down so I had to cut em loose for a while. It's not easy going out solo but like anything, it gets easier with more practice and repetition. Hopefully this will encourage people in my situation to break out of there shell so here we go:

Actual FR: I heard of this thing called the Electric Run where people run a marathon at night while wearing a crazy costume or crazy glow in the dark clothing and accessories. They run through an awesome glow in the dark course then we all party. I heard about it only 30 minutes before it started but they let me in to attend the party for just $5.

I walk in to the festival so I want to talk to someone immediately to keep spirits high. I notice a tent where they are selling glow in the dark accessories and go to it because my blue jeans and t-shirt are looking plain. I walk up to an attractive Latina, I say hi to which she responds with a bright smile and a warm, "Hey! How are you?" we have some small talk before she helps me with buying some stuff. I buy glow in the dark glasses, necklaces, pimp pinky ring, and even some body paint.

She offers to help me with the paint so I agree. I have some fun with the whole thing by joking around. I told her, "Make me look fierce like Beyonce" I let her laugh then I said, "I mean like a Tiger, a Tiger, yeah..." The only thing that made me upset is the fact we kept talking but it didn't occur to me to ask for her number until after I left the tent. Oh, well.

I go to the dance floor and I dance like crazy without hesitation. I used to have to drink for liquid encouragement but I've gotten so used to this that I can just dance and have a good time without drinking. So it gets easier the more you do it, just like pick up. I'm breaking out some moves, jumping when the DJ tells us to. Next, I start a dance circle so everyone is taking turns showing of their moves. I'm not a pro by any means but I give it all I've got.

30 minutes in I run into some coworkers from a job I had last year. We all dance together until the DJ tells the guys to put their date in the air. One of my old coworkers - let's call her HB7 - begun to look a little discouraged. I always found HB7 attractive but I never had the balls to talk to her last year. But not tonight, I told her to hop on and I have her on cloud nine. She even caught a t-shirt for me.

We are all having a good time until they had to leave. But I sprung into action by asking the group to give HB7 and I a minute. I thank her for the t-shirt and how it's nice to finally talk to her. She starts to ask me what have I been doing because I seem different. I simply told her, "I've been on an adventure." She giggled and said that sounds interesting. We catch up on what we've been doing for about 5 minutes until her coworkers tell her to hurry. I then say, "I think you're cute and you seem to be interesting as well. Since we don't work together anymore, let me have your number." Got it :)

I don't know how I got the energy to keep dancing but I went back to the dance floor. I took pictures with people dressed as Deadmau5, a banana, and even Gumby. I accidentally hit a guy in the head but I immediately apologize and offer to buy him a drink. He's really cool about it and explains how he's used to it. We then talk about tactics to not get hit in the head. Somehow he brings up how he's not paying attention because he's admiring how people are dressed. I asked him if he's here with anybody and he says no. We then agree to be each other's wing men and dance even more, but not together of course.

He disappears but I find myself in the front and the people on stage are tossing free shit and I catch a bunch. I then see two girls who look alike, they may be sisters, grabbing on the the stage guard rail while they are twerking. I thought they were twerking for the hell of it so I keep dancing until I see one of them holding eye contact with me while she drops low. They are surrounded by guys who are too afraid to go near them so I make my move. Instead of dancing behind her, I decide to break the two apart and I start twerking myself. I didn't do it for the sake of gaming them but just because I thought it was funny.

Luckily, they thought it was really funny so we kept going at it until they started to grind on me. Did I mention they were wearing mini skirts? That was fun. They were both grinding on me until they were asked to go on stage so I encouraged them to go. I keep dancing until I run into my sister and her friends. My sister looked like she saw a ghost and asked me why I had body paint and so much glow in the dark stuff on. She said I never do stuff like this to which I replied, "I do now." So I danced with her friends but they are only 18 and I'm 23 so I didn't attempt any kino.

We are all having fun until my sister throws up. She got a ride from her friends who didn't want to take her home so soon (even though it was midnight) so I took her home. She needs some new friends. Anyway, my sister told me how shocked she was and how good I danced. I took her to a concert last year for her birthday so she mentioned how I danced so horribly and awkward last year but it's improved now. Overall, it was an awesome night and I will be doing it again next year.

TL;DR; Went to a marathon at night and attended the party afterwards on my own. Danced for 4 hours with different people. Ran into an old coworker I always liked, let her ride on my shoulders, she caught a free t-shirt for me, # closed. Hung out with people in costumes and took pictures with them. Grinded with two girls in mini skirts who appeared to be sisters but cannot confirm. Ran into my sister, danced with her friends, my sister threw up so I took her home. Had so much fun but now I'm sore, have body paint in weird places, no fucks given.
