Giving out your number means nothing. Except that your game is weak. If she wanted to be pursued, by you, you would have her number and shit like this wouldn't be happening.

She's not into you. Bartenders get hit on a ton. And she's sober.

Just move on and learn from your mistake. Don't be surprised that a girl you failed to number close didn't pursue you. If that's how life worked, this sub wouldn't exist.

My view:

She's full of sh*t. A bartender who doesn't empty their pockets, diligently? Right. Or, you were so forgettable that she didn't remember that your number was in her pocket. Or "Where did I put that number with the Stud's number on it? Hm...I can't remember, but...I know! I'll wash my jeans-then I'll look for it!"
She has a vested interest in keeping you dangling...your patronage. (Read: tips). I'll bet you tipped her, w/your free drink.
she didn't buy you a drink...she gave you a freebie on the bar owner's dime.
What's she gonna say? F*ck off, creep? "I've got a bf...sorry!" will keep you pacified-and, returning.

/u/juliusstreicher is completely correct in everything they commented. I'm a bartender checking in here, there's no way that I keep something valuable/important on me during my shift. If someone passes me something (e.g. like a piece of paper or phone number on a napkin) I will put that away straight away as to avoid it getting destroyed by everything that you come into contact with whilst working behind a bar.

There's no way she would be rude to you either she just wants you to keep coming back (after all she is being paid to be nice to you) and yeah she just poured you a drink and wrote it down on bar wastage in order to appear to be the good guy. In reality I don't think she cares and you shouldn't waste your time pursuing this mate.

I have a few suggestions for you

1) NEVER give your number without taking and confirming her number.

This is a hoop girls put up to test you unconsciously. They think "ok I will test this guy, maybe he'll give his number and go away so I can reject him and avoid any confrontation" and the drunk or inexperienced guys usually fall for this.

-why don't you give me YOUR number?
A) Why?
B) Nice talking to you, laters
C) I don't think so, thanks for your time

If she was just fooling around, she will change her mind and give you her number when you don't break your manly frame and call her out on her trick for nice guys, but if you messed up ; she wasn't attracted to you; you smiled and thanked her for her time, you are one step closer to meeting your dream girl. You didn't put this girl down or hurt her feelings for not being attracted to you.

I think you fucked up by giving her your number again, pretty soft and ineffectual. You should have seized the moment and been a man, even if really she was just jerking you around. She probably wasn't interested, but you could have turned it around if you acted assuredly. Make your move in the moment, don't post about it here. She bought your a drink . . .a drink it just a drink . . .it doesn't mean shit. Buying a woman a drink it's just giving her a chance to see if you like her or she likes you. The action of purchasing someone a drink doesn't mean shit, but what you do in that time while sharing the drink is important. She bought you a drink and walked away. What has me bother is the whole "...drunker than I should" and "getting pretty drunk". I would not pursue dood. Always be the hunted, never be the hunter. Alpha up.

Giving girls your # has a minimal return - don't take it personally...if you can still get her out, do it. Women don't usually call men...that's just how it is. A waitress or bartender can probably just write her # on a napkin or receipt when nobody can see.

For other hired guns who can't just give their numbers out, I have an identity-based nonstandard business card that I use...they then sometimes look at the about me on my webpage, read the DHV story there and then email me, so that has worked for me.
