I've recently moved far far away from home, and I'm noticing an issue with my approach anxiety. I've had successes in the past, but never really gotten over it. It feels different here but still I'm preventing myself from walking up to women I want to speak to and say "hello". I'll look and break eye contact early, or I'll hover around and get closer to my target without approaching.. Sometimes I'll pretend that I'm on the phone texting, when I'm actually just stewing in my own AA.

And you know what? It's pathetic. As a valuable man I have nothing to fear from approaching women anywhere. Worst case, there is a negative reaction and I'll leave.

I don't want to approach everyone, but I do want to take the steps and make my cold approaches when I feel the "universe" telling me to move. To shake off my fear and just go.

So this is my pledge. I will be more proactive and effect the environment around me. I refuse to be a piece of the background. I will take what I want out of life.

And I'll start tonight!
