You are over thinking things and letting your approach anxiety and self limiting beliefs lead you. When you see hot women, approach them immediately whether she is alone or not. Even 5 girls together or a mixed group....approach! You success rate is higher on groups you think are more difficult (larger groups, mixed groups) because it shows more confidence when you approach.

There's nothing wrong with your approach. Every man's game is different. However, you can add forcing eye contact to your strategy to increase your opportunities meet more women.

When your eyes meet their eyes their body language will tell you if they are interested in you or not.
