Man, you're in a tough situation. I'm not entirely sure what to tell you but I will suggest that you don't lie about anything. If it comes up just tell the truth. I feel like you will run into some girls who will be ignorant and pushed away by the fact that you have cancer because they think they'll contract or for whatever reason. That being said, those girls aren't worth it anyway so it's fine. You do deserve to get laid and do deserve to get dates. Be confident about it, this cancer shit doesn't hold you back and you can fuck attractive women if you want. But It'll all be better in a couple months after treatment when you've kicked cancers ass. Tell the truth. I had met a girl literally the week I found out I had cancer. Things actually worked out and we dated for a couple years. She was awesome. Just own it.

If she's a half decent girl, she would not reject you because of this. She would be more interested in how you are dealing with it. Eg. If she senses you're are looking for pity, she may be turned off. But if you demonstrate that you are doing everything to help yourself, staying positive, taking doctors orders and still being your happy self, that would be very impressive and demonstrate strength.

Think about this, you met a really attractive and terriffic girl and she told you the same, would you just walk away?

Hey man, I went through similar. Dated while doing chemo for cancer. I was always upfront about it. If they didn't understand, then i knew they weren't the type of girl I'd be interested in. And someone else mentioned it in here, even more of a reason to live life to fullest.

Don't lie, and you are under no obligation to bring it up.

Just say you are between jobs, or just talk about your last job without explicitly stating you are still working there.

edit: regarding the cancer... most people have an image of themselves that doesn't include "dating someone with cancer" because it is totally unknown to them, and therefore scary because they don't know how to act. So you are totally right in thinking this could be problematic.

Unless you are getting married and committing yourself to years together, I think your health is your business and you are under no obligation to talk about it.

First, I hope you get well soon, for real. And I can tell you of my experience with "no work": I'm 33 and I had never had a "real" 8 hs job. That makes some people uncomfortable. I'm not poor either. So when people ask me what I do, I say "investor", what is true, I invest in the stock market and other stuff. If you feel better, say that, you are a investor. And if you dont want to lie, just purchase some stock bonds, they are cheap, with 1000 USD you can purchase a lot. Excuse my english.
