Nice video here. Perfect for me, first year of college is in a almost 3 weeks, I'm excited and this video really pumped me up but I'm still pretty scared because when I actually get to the moment I'm hoping I don't pussy out. I have a bad habit of changing my vocal tone when meeting new people. My voice gets a bit higher and kinder, I hate it and it doesn't suit me because I'm a body builder, any idea on how to not have a little bitch voice when meeting new people?

Great advice, and very true. I'll be a junior in college this fall, and this is exactly the way things progress socially- especially freshman year.

I would also say to keep your door open if you are just hanging out in your room after you've made a few rounds of meeting people. The way it happened for me- was that anyone in my "social circle" from my dorm building would do a quick sweep of the floor for people with their doors open, and ask if anyone wanted to go to the dining hall, or the bookstore with them.

So, bravo OP. Hit the nail on the head. Utilizing that "window" to socialize when you get to school can be huge.

hey, so i'm in university and im in my 4th year, its about 5 weeks in and i want to do some approaches, i keep making excuses that everyone is in their niches and approach is weird especially since i'm not new to this university and that its a few weeks in. should i just approach as if it's my first week and stop caring?

Great video, you hit on so many solid points about maximizing on the short window of opportunity to create relationships that will make your college journey much smoother.

Everything you talked about was accurate, the only thing I would add is to SMILE your first week of being at school!! Like Carnegie talks about in his classic "How to Win Friends and Influence People", no man (or woman) can resist the power of a confident, friendly smile.

I remember at my college orientation how so many people were avoiding eye contact with others, or had their face in their iPhone, or looked visibly anxious (all natural tendencies when people feel socially uncomfortable).... Don't be that guy! A warm smile and eye contact (not in a creepy way) is like a lighthouse beacon for all the uncomfortable people around you, they'll feel more secure in themselves, at ease, and open to conversation.

TL;DR: smile when meeting new people, they'll feel more comfortable

Wow this is spot on! Quick story, took a summer class in college and first day, before teacher got there, I walked in front of class and pretended I was the professor and gave a fake lesson for self-amusement. Immediately I was donated the role of alpha male and the rest of the semester was smooth sailing. Plus when everyone is anxious and nervous, and you're SUPER chill,funny and social; people will notice.
