The moderators are well aware of your concerns, we deal with this on a daily basis. If you think the videos in seddit are bad, just think about the stuff you don't see because we remove it. It's really bad.

There are some video channels that are completely banned from seddit due to obvious, clumsy attempts at spammy marketing. There are others that are just offensive, stupid, or provide no value. It's easy to remove the known offenders. But it is time-consuming to review all the new wannabe proPUAs for suitability. I have to watch them and I keep thinking, "this is three minutes of my life I'll never get back." Sometimes it is pretty easy to determine who has put some effort into producing quality material, rather than just some random guy talking to a webcam. But there is quality material presented poorly, and poor material presented with high production values. So it isn't always an easy call. I sometimes give feedback to non-professionals who may have something good to contribute but aren't doing a good job of presentation. But I cannot do much of this, or else I can open the moderators to charges of favoritism, or even coaching professionals how to market to seddit.

But even the pros can cause problems. For example, probably nobody would dispute the value of videos produced by RSD. But there were times when the RSD accounts were shadowbanned by the reddit admins, due to their overly-aggressive promotions in multiple subreddits. It appears they have toned it down and their current accounts are acceptable to the admins. Also there are projects we would generally accept as valuable, like the LoveSystems podcasts mentioned elsewhere in this thread, that some would consider spam but we would condone. I was hoping that the reddit project SEOKiller would help us but the developer discontinued the project. And I don't blame him, it is not really the job of individuals to work for free at a job that reddit should be providing for us. But anyway, I spoke with the developer and he said there were several channels that were on his blacklist, including RSD and Love Systems. We could whitelist them, but technically they were spamming according to the rules he was developing. This would make it hard to accept fully automatic moderation. But the point is moot since the project was discontinued.

I cannot give a full explanation of how we evaluate acceptable posts, as this would only give spammers the information they need to get around our defenses. But this is a hot issue all across the internet, for example, see this relevant XKCD comic.

seddit has a complex history with the professional PUA scene. It is sort of a love-hate relationship. We generally believe that you could develop your seduction skills without buying expensive products. But most of the good new material comes from proPUAs. If they can't make a living selling their products, they can't produce new material. But seddit is not their platform for supporting new commercial products to support their business.

But let's wrap this up since I am going too long.

The moderation rules for acceptable video content evolves over time. There are some clear standards that are never in dispute. Do not post music videos, TV commercials, movie clips, comedy sketches, or prank videos. No matter how relevant you think they are, no they're not relevant, and they encourage other people to post crap.

But the ultimate rule is what I call the "seddit Prime Directive," bring value to seddit, don't try to extract value for yourself. If a post's primary intent is to draw viewers to a YouTube channel, you are trying to extract value from seddit's audience by converting them to your audience. We do expect that most proPUA presentations do contain some element of self-promotion. But we expect the quality of the material to speak for itself, we do not permit heavy-handed hard-sell tactics. You must primarily offer value to seddit that far exceeds any marketing tactics. You must be a contributor and participant in the seddit community. You cannot be just a YouTube channel with a reddit account posting links.

Seduction is a huge industry. So yeah, it attracts spammer fucks.

Still, some of them are semi useful if they give away enough content without you having to sign up to some $5000 a day bootcamp.

(I'd actually do one of those for say $200 a day to be honest, but the several grand they charge is a joke)

It has to be judged case by case to know if it's marketing or someone sharing something they got value out of, imo. Besides, I don't mind someone marketing something if it actually gives value.

I agree. Mostly.

I don't think all links should be banned, but I do think perhaps the mods could be a little more active about removing the blatant marketing.

I agree mainly because I am on Reddit, not Watchedit. There should be a rule that video links need some summarizing text. I expect to spend 30 seconds at most on a post. When it comes to long-ass youtube videos, ain't nobody got time for that.
