I keep seeing tons of posts about people doing cold approaches off the bat... I think it's very courageous and all that, but I am wondering why I see very little about progressively challenging yourself to step outside your comfort zone (e.g. saying hi to 5 strangers you pass by, giving genuine compliments to 5 random people in a day, etc.) before working on approaching. Isn't this a better way to build a habit than to toss yourself in blindly, with no training wheels, right at the beginning? I know Mark Manson (as well as buttloads of psychologists) advocates a slow-ramping exposure to the things we fear, but I scarcely see this approach talked about. Thoughts on this?
