How do you guys handle the thin line between being persistent and having abundance ?

Persistence over time. So I wait 3 days, then 3 weeks, maybe 3 months if I send something without getting a reply.

I suspect she's just not into you. I'd say ask once more, and anything other than a clear yes, just drop it. What you described, her responding but then dropping off once you ask her out, is 99% of the time a "no". The line of persistence and abundance is really understanding no vs not yet, but usually anything that's not a yes is a no.

Good. Also, you might have made a mistake in how you asked, but asking to spend time with a girl early on, is FINE.

NO. Well, yes..... texting her is fine. But you seem to be confused here. She showed lack of interest to date you. And you read that well enough. Just because she can be friends with you does not mean that she secretly wants the D.

So my question is what little tricks do you guys use or little rules do you guys have to stay in that sweet spot of "just persistent enough"

That's not the issue here. You were persistent enough in this example.

The issue is that you are trying to convert a girl who already made her lack of interest clear. There are two options here:

She's not interested. And you moved on correctly. Just because she might want to be friends, doesn't change that. And if you can handle friendship, what you have with her is a potential social connection to someone who would be up for it. And if you handle her kindly, she'll grease the wheels for you with anyone she connected to, if she likes you. So many guys overlook the value of having someone put in a good word for them, just because of their pride.
She is interested but effed up in the head. Even if this outlandish scenario were the case, you have better things to do with your time than waste it chasing after girls who would throw a wrench in the works at the drop of a hat.

It depends on her feedback. In your case she was not ignoring you because it was too early, but because you tried to go the easy route, texting her instead of asking her out in person. This can work if there is no way to meet beforehand, but comes off as weak when there are plenty of occasions where you meet her face to face.

I would so not say it's over, you should just now try to connect to her I person, Don't text! Then when you feel her feedback is getting positive, ask again.

To the point of persistence, nowadays I tend to not pursue a girl anymore if she is not interested. When I meet them again, I flirt with most women, and when I feel it, I go in for the kiss/date whatever. I am persistent to that degree, but I don't actively seek to meet a girl that does not reciprocate my interest, either it being friendly of romantic.

My general rule is two no's means no. I would make an attempt to ask one more time. If she says no again than accept it and if you want to be friends tell her that you understand and hope you can be friends. Also you should have asked her when you saw her in person.
