Previous post: Just a Little Note on Texting
Okay, so I just wanted to add a few other things to my advice that /r/seduction might be able to gain some more experience. Please note that this actually has nothing to do with hitting on women, and this advice alone won't get you laid, but it will make you a more interesting, thus increasing the effectiveness of your seduction process.
as I posted before, a lot of this is repeated advice that MANY others have posted, but it is awesome to get repetition of advice, it reinforces the ideas and proves that multiple people are making this claim
Find Hobbies
Seriously, go out and find stuff to do. There is so much to do out there, I wish I had more days in the week. I dance 3-4 times in a week, go hiking, play magic the gathering, project a movie on my house while in my back yard with a campfire, tutor, learn new skills, create material(self-improvement blog, product reviews, Youtube channel, read nonfiction, etc.). Start with small stuff. Go for some hikes locally or go see an art show in your local town. Check with your friends and ask of any one-time experiences you could check out, just to get a grasp on going out and trying new things. Check Facebook postings, Craigslist ads, Groupons, etc. You WILL meet new people.
I got into line dancing. Yeah, I know, sounds pretty lame. It was, until I started accepting it for what it was and started having a lot of fun. I didn't care what other people thought, especially those that never tried it. Let me tell you something about the girls at line dancing. THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM AND THEY'RE SOUTHERN HOT. Also, they are in the same boat, they took a risk and tried something really fun. Added benefits were a sense of rhythm and physical exercise, which both pay off greatly. Oh, and one thing about the women. When I first arrived, it was mostly older people and a few people my age who weren't super friendly. I still enjoyed myself and occasionally brought a friend or two. Eventually, the population got more to my age (mid 20's). Being the experienced person opened so many doors to introducing myself and giving advice.
Another hobby I got into was rock climbing. It has a small risk factor to it, but it's so much fun! You don't have to rock climb, but find something that's tough and has a sense of adventure. Try geocaching, hiking on longer hikes, try mountain biking, go to a trampoline gym on occasion. These are cool activities and definitely make you look more adventurous and interesting... mostly because they actually make you more adventurous and interesting.
I also learned to cook. Basic stuff, chicken prepared differently, learned a few desserts to bake for social gatherings, learned how to grill a steak to my preferences, learned how to make healthy and delicious meals left and right. Found some interesting cooking videos on Youtube and started going from there. I even took a couple cooking classes at my local community college. By this point I was dating someone, but holy crap was the female:male ratio huge. Instant flirting once I walked into the class.
Other stuff I do is blog and write product reviews, own a youtube channel, lock picking, motocamping, and auto maintenance.
Don't worry about losing your nerd-hobbies either. I play Magic the Gathering competitively, and used to actively and passionately talk about it, even on first dates! The trick was turning the dialogue into a beginner-friendly discussion. Instead of talking about the game in particular, talk about why it's fun, such as how every deck is different so you always play against a "personality", and how the game is such a challenge when you play against other people who understand the game at a competitive level. Notice how I turned that hobby into an acknowledgement of my intelligence? Turn those nerd-hobbies into something fun! Warhammer and D&D is an escape from the stresses of life, very much like how people escape into a book. Offer to teach the person how to play, but make sure if you do this, it is in a very beginner-friendly environment! (You might be chill when playing D&D, but maybe your friends won't?)
Get your finances straight, especially if you're out of college
Holy crap, I cannot tell you how important this is. While it won't get you laid by simply saving money, it does allow you to do more fun things if you budget properly. Stop buying that coffee on the road because it's convenient. Maybe bring lunch once a week? Cut back on impulse spending! These things will give you more money which gives you more capability to do things. Maybe go one step further and start planning for retirement? I had a girl amazed when I was talking about saving for retirement at 25 years old. Bought some stocks, which is actually pretty interesting to talk about.
Kill the social network engagement
When I was most successful with women, I was too busy for Facebook. If you post everything you do, you put yourself 100% out there so people can e-judge you. You made 40 posts in 2 weeks, and maybe 4 of them are interesting? Cool, you're only 10% interesting.
I posted maybe once a week when I was busy doing stuff. I immediately became more interesting to people. I never bragged about stuff, unless I got to see a gorgeous sunset from a bar with a dock on a river.
Stop comparing your stuff to others
Okay, I did a little (or maybe a lot of) bragging here, but this was self-improvement over the course of 2-3 years. Being a teacher gives me the extra time to do this as well. Are you going to do all of these things starting tomorrow? Of course not! You cannot compare yourself to others when doing this, this has to be done for YOU, and no one else.
This is why I recommend dropping social engagement. You see a friend go on vacation to the Bahamas while another friend got a promotion, and another friend just got married? Who cares? The only thing you're getting from this is "My friends are travelling, getting promotions and getting married". You group it all together at the end of the day, which is horrible. It kills self-confidence and keeps you below your potential.
Don't blame anyone but yourself
Before I act like a big jerk, let me note that there ARE some things beyond your control. Maybe your job is rough right now and you have to work 80 hours a week to make ends meet, maybe you have a kid to support, or maybe you have something legitimate holding you back like debt or a medical condition. These are logical excuses, don't ignore these things.
A lot of people blame things or others for why they don't do things. You're to blame, not because you actually can't do it, but rather because you're too afraid to make yourself vulnerable and risk looking like a fool. Maybe you're not cool enough or you don't know what to say to people? Well, you don't magically acquire this skill. You need to go out and meet people, talk about ANYTHING, and just seek adventure in your life. Maybe you have nothing to talk about because you don't participate in anything interesting? Imagine if I tried writing this guide WITHOUT doing some cool stuff or having experiences? Maybe my guide wouldn't be so good...
Alright, that's all I got. Hope this helps.
Edit: and I'd also like to add, I still live home at 27. Parents are amazingly cool so that definitely plays a role in the situation, and the fact that bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house. So even if you live at home, it can still work out.
